MM-eh was on site at Battle Arts Academy on Friday to document the weigh-ins for THICC Boy Fight Club’s inaugural event, scheduled for Saturday the 29th of April, 2023.

This is an amateur Pankration event held under the authority of the Ontario Grappling association. Competitors must wear shin guards but no headgear, wear 7 oz. gloves, there are no knees to the head allowed either standing or on the ground, no heel hooks, and no twisters allowed.

*Note – For this event, fighters are allowed a 3 lb weight variance. Therefore if a fighter was contracted to weigh 155 lbs, they could weigh no more than 158.0 lbs.

Missed weight info:

When a fighter signs a contract they are required to weigh-in the day before the event, and weigh a maximum 1.0 pounds more than their contracted weight. The exception to this is for title fights, where there is no permissible extra allowance. For example, a fighter contracted to fight a non-title fight in the Lightweight division, which is 155 lbs or less, can weigh as much as 156.0 lbs, while a fighter in a Lightweight Title fight can weigh a maximum of 155.0 lbs.

If a fighter misses weight a commission will typically allow them one additional hour to attempt to make that weight. If the fighter is unsuccessful in meeting their contracted weight, their opponent who makes weight has the option to not fight, as their opponent did not meet the requirements of the contract. If the opponent chooses to accept the fight, they are awarded a portion of the missed-weight fighter’s purse, typically 20%.

THE MONSTER IS BACK 👹 After nearly two years away THE MONSTER IS BACK 👹

After nearly two years away from the UFC Octagon, Chad “The Monster” Anheliger is finally closing in on his return.

I caught up with Chad ahead of his UFC Edmonton fight against Steven Koslow on October 17 to talk about the long and sometimes frustrating road back to competition.

A serious knee injury forced Chad onto the sidelines, but instead of rushing his return, he used the time to properly rehab, rebuild his strength and conditioning, and rediscover just how much he still wants to fight.

“I’m hungrier than ever to get back in there.”

And Chad sees Edmonton as more than simply another fight. After the UFC worked with him throughout his injuries and his lengthy absence, he called this a “big redemption opportunity.”

We also talked about becoming a new father to his son Jack, his life coaching and training at Champions Creed, and the other Monster now joining him on the Edmonton card — fellow Canadian Kyle Nelson. 👹👹

Chad says he’s coming back in the best shape, best headspace and with the best game plan possible.

After almost two years of waiting, Chad Anheliger finally gets to do what he loves again.

🥊 BRAYDEN TODD: “I’VE NEVER BEEN IN A FIGHT THAT’S 🥊 BRAYDEN TODD: “I’VE NEVER BEEN IN A FIGHT THAT’S NOT FIREWORKS.”

Brayden Todd has been around combat sports for almost his entire life.

The 26-year-old Adrenaline MMA fighter started wrestling at just seven years old, eventually earning scholarship opportunities before turning his attention toward mixed martial arts. Fighting was never far away — his father was a kickboxer who trained under the legendary Shawn Tompkins, and Todd grew up around the team that would become such an important part of Canadian MMA.

Now Todd gets another opportunity to show what that lifetime in combat sports has produced when he faces Trammell Arrington at Rising Stars in London.

And if you haven't watched Brayden Todd fight before, he gave MM-EH a pretty simple description of what to expect:

🥊 “I’ve never been in a fight that’s not fireworks.”

Despite his wrestling pedigree, Todd admits he's drawn toward standing in the pocket and proving himself as a boxer and striker. But if someone decides they'd rather wrestle him?

Good luck.

“Nobody in the amateur scene’s gonna take me down. No chance.”

That's the confidence of someone who has been wrestling since childhood and says he has yet to be taken down in an MMA fight.

Todd also talks about growing up inside Adrenaline MMA and learning from an incredible collection of Canadian combat-sports experience, including Mark Hominick, Sam Stout, Chris Horodecki and BJJ coach James Horth.

“I owe my coaches literally everything.”

Even after nearly two decades around the gym, Todd says he's still learning every time he walks through the doors.

We also talked about the transition from wrestling to striking, the lessons from his amateur losses, his frustrating last fight cancellation after making weight, and why he believes fans are going to want to see what happens when he and Errington step into the cage.

Todd even made me a promise:

“I’ll have a highlight for you.” 👀

Brayden Todd joins me on The MM-EH Show this week ahead of Rising Stars in London.

🥊 EDDIE “THE ACTION MAN” FELVINTI IS READY TO SHOW 🥊 EDDIE “THE ACTION MAN” FELVINTI IS READY TO SHOW A DIFFERENT FIGHTER

At just 18 years old, Eddie Felvinti already has two amateur MMA fights under his belt — and he isn’t hiding from the fact that both ended in losses.

He’s learning from them.

The Guelph, Ontario fighter joins me on The MM-EH Show ahead of his third amateur bout at Mayhem 5 in Lindsay, Ontario, where he’ll face Mustapha Bouraoui.

Coming from a wrestling background and now training at 519 Jiu-Jitsu, Eddie and his team have gone back through his first two fights to identify what needed to change.

Range control. Cleaner striking. Staying composed instead of getting dragged into a brawl. More jiu-jitsu.

There’s also been a major change for this fight: Eddie has moved down a weight class.

He says he feels better conditioned, more athletic and simply like a better version of himself.

But don’t mistake improvement for caution.

🔥 His Mayhem 3 fight was described to him as one of the most entertaining fights of the night.

🔥 His bout with Michael Ryan at BTC 37 earned Fight of the Night.

Now Eddie wants another one.

“The Edward Felvinti that you're gonna see walk into the cage at Mayhem 5 is gonna be completely different from Mayhem 3.”

His prediction for what fans should expect?

“Expect a war.”

At only 18, Eddie isn’t supposed to be a finished product. This is what the amateur ranks are about — competing, learning, making adjustments and coming back better.

Now we get to see the next version of “The Action Man.”
