Professional MMA is thriving in Ontario.
For years we’ve had excellent promotions like BTC, Prospect FC, and last year even Unified MMA started their residence here.
This June we can expect another to join them, as the Durham Fight Series (DFS) will hold their first card on June 3rd in Oshawa.
Brainchild of Brendan Kalijundic from Kalsamrit Martial Arts, DFS is doing something a little different from the promotions just mentioned.
DFS co-promotor Brad DaSilva told MM-eh, “The whole foundation of DFS is a charity called ‘Hearts for Martial Arts,’ which helps gyms cover costs for memberships and equipment for families in need.”
He added, “We plan on doing just one show a year as a charity event, and the proceeds are going to Hearts for Martial Arts.”
DaSilva said that this event has been a year in the making, and they’re following the model that Dr. Faisal Rehman does with his “Knockout Kidney Disease” series.
