Canadian flyweight prospect Jamey-Lyn Horth will return to action this spring when she faces veteran contender JJ Aldrich at UFC Fight Night: Burns vs. Malott in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
The bout is scheduled for the preliminary card at the Canada Life Centre, where the Ultimate Fighting Championship makes its return to the city on April 18. The matchup will take place in the women’s flyweight division at 125 pounds.
Horth, who fights out of Squamish, British Columbia, enters the contest looking to continue her rise in the UFC’s flyweight ranks. The Canadian holds a professional record of 9-2, relying on a well-rounded skill set that blends pressure striking with grappling ability. At 5-foot-7, she also carries a height advantage over many opponents in the division, a tool she has used effectively in the Octagon.
Across from her will be Aldrich, a seasoned UFC veteran with a 14-7 professional record and a reputation for technical striking and strong fundamentals. Fighting out of Denver, Colorado, Aldrich has spent years competing against top competition in the women’s flyweight division and will bring significant experience into the matchup.
The fight adds another Canadian storyline to the Winnipeg card, which is headlined by Mike Malott against Gilbert Burns. With several Canadian athletes scheduled to compete, the event is shaping up as a showcase for homegrown talent when the UFC returns to Manitoba.
For Horth, the matchup with Aldrich represents a key opportunity. A victory over a respected veteran could move the Canadian closer to the UFC’s ranked flyweight contenders while building momentum in front of a Canadian crowd.
