Honourary Canadian daughter Diana Irena Belbiţă announced today that she is finished competing in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
In a post on her Instagram page she wrote:
“It was fun fighting at the highest level.
I never even dared to dream that I will get there, But I ended up spending my last 6 years fighting for the best promotion in the world. It was a fun journey and I loved it. Now it’s time for me to start a new chapter.
Thank you @ufc , @mickmaynard2 and @danawhite . 🤍“
This announcement comes on the heels of her April 5th loss to Dione Barbosa at the UFC Fight Night in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Although Belbiţă’s statement tells of an end with the UFC, it leaves open the possibility of a further fight career in a separate organization.
That being said, Diana herself may have given us some clues to what’s in store for her next when she participated in the 2025 MM-EH New Year’s Resolution article.
“2025 is gonna be a year full of surprises for my friends and fans and even for my family. I’m already working on big things that will change my life a lot and the results are gonna be seen soon. I’m not gonna talk a lot about my personal life so let’s make the plan for my career:
– Moving up a weight class;
– Fighting in March, fighting again in May then taking 3 weeks off so I can visit my Mom in Romania after almost 4 years;
– And I’m not gonna lie, I miss being part of Reality Shows, so I may be back on the screen 😅”
Whatever it is that Diana chooses to do, we at MM-EH thank her for her outstanding contribution to MMA in Canada.
