According to a report on MMA Junkie, Canadian mixed martial artist Serhiy Sidey is set to face Cameron Smotherman at UFC Fight Night 258 on May 3, 2025, at the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa.
Hailing from Toronto, Ontario, Sidey has rapidly ascended the bantamweight ranks with a professional record of 11 wins and 2 losses. Known for his striking precision and grappling prowess, he has secured multiple victories via knockout and submission, showcasing his versatility inside the octagon.
This bout marks Sidey’s third appearance under the UFC banner. His previous performances have garnered attention for their technical excellence and strategic approach, making him a fighter to watch in the 135-pound division.
Facing Sidey is Cameron Smotherman, an American fighter recognized for his aggressive style and resilience. With a professional record of 12 wins and 4 losses, Smotherman presents a formidable challenge, promising an electrifying matchup for MMA enthusiasts.
UFC Fight Night 258 will be the promotion’s first event in Iowa since UFC 26 in June 2000, adding historical significance to the card.
Sidey is the 2nd Canadian added to this fight card, with compatriot Gillian “Savage” Robertson set to take on Brazilian Marina Rodriguez.
It’s curious to see both Canadians fighting just 7 days before the anticipated UFC event anticipated for May 10th in Montreal, but there is still a large group of Canadian fighters who are not yet on a fight card, and we’ll have to be patient to see how that looks.
